FRANCO SCHOEMAN (FRANX)

PERFORMING ARTIST | COMPOSER | ARRANGER

Being a musician from a very young age, Franx had journeyed through the experience of learning many different instruments. His musical interest began at the age of 4 with piano studies, until he later focussed on electrical bass. Since then he has expanded his musical talents to include, vocal works, upright bass, keyboard, bassoon and various arrangements for original compositions. His Btech in performing arts at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) was completed in 2013 under scholarship from SAMRO.

Franx is currently finishing his MMus at The University of Witwatersrand, specialising in the exploration of musical composition that investigates sonic phenomena. His MMus composition, Infrasonoroties, featured infrasound synthesised and pre-recorded from elephants and thunderstorms.

Besides focusing on his studies, Franx is also a prominent bass guitarist in the rock, pop and jazz industry of SA. He is a founding member of ISO (former Isochronous) and has contributed various compositional works for the band's discography. In 2010 he performed with ISO throughout Germany for over 100 000 people. Thereafter the project BARK emerged in collaboration with his high school friends Emile and Jaen Swiegers.
