'Tattooing: Traditional Craft vs. Modern Art'
by Len-John Sanders
Time: Friday, 4 September, 14:45 - 15:45
Place: Sci-Bono, Newtown
Ever considered becoming a tattoo artist? This workshop will take a look at how tattooing evolved from a traditional craft to a modern form of expression. It will include a short drawing tutorial on traditional tattoo design, along with some general tips on improving your skills. Len-John will also share his experience within the industry and give some tips on how to procure a professional apprenticeship.
Attendees will receive a limited edition signed and numbered print.
With a strong attraction to tattoos from a very early age, Len-John got and made his first few tattoos while still in high-school with a crudely home-made tattoo machine. A few years later he served a traditional 2 year apprenticeship under the team at Handstyle Tattoos in the northern suburbs of Joburg.
After completing his apprenticeship he spent some time traveling and working at various tattoo studios and is now the owner and resident artist at Timeless Electric Tattoo in the heart of Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
