Willemien Rust (née Heyns) is an alternative Afrikaans singer-songwriter who has a French alter ego called Philomène. Both Willemien and Philomène value collaboration, or the act of “&”ing. This is because they believe sharing creative ideas, rather than working alone, results in layered creative output. Although Willemien and Philomène favour musical collaborations, the projects they’ve been involved in have extended into other artistic mediums, such as film and animation.
